c.1802 KING GEORGE III PEARLWARE TEA BOWL - TREATY OF AMIENS. A polychrome enamel tea bowl celebrating the Treaty of Amiens and the end (temporarily) of the hostilities between France and Britain. To the left of Britannia is Victory holding a palm frond and seated to the right is France with a staff and Liberty Cap (A symbol of the French Revolution). In good condition for its age with 3 tiny spots on the rim glaze possibly in manufacture and a small spot loss of glaze on the inside with the usual glaze crazing.

1817 PRINCESS CHARLOTTE MEMORIAM MUG. An unusual 1817 applied relief mug produced during the reign of King George III. Princess Charlotte was the only child of the Prince of Wales (Later King George IV) and her death during child birth changed the line of succession (Charlotte being second in line the child would have been third). This led to William IV succeeding followed by Victoria. To the left of the handle a woman and a dog at tomb side. On the right a lion and a child. The center shows the Prince of Wales feathers with a crown above and a lion and unicorn below. This interesting mug has a small flake chip restoration now slightly discolored with age on the outer rim otherwise in excellent condition.

THE PRINCE OF WALES (LATER KING GEORGE IV) ENTERED INTO AN ARRANGED MARRIAGE WITH CAROLINE OF BRUNSWICK IN 1795. THIS UNHAPPY MARRIAGE LED TO THEIR SEPARATION AFTER THE BIRTH OF THEIR DAUGHTER, CHARLOTTE, THE FOLLOWING YEAR . CAROLINE TRAVELED WIDELY IN EUROPE, WHERE HER ECCENTRIC BEHAVIOR CAUSED CONSIDERABLE SCANDAL. HER POPULAR SUPPORT THWARTED EFFORTS TO DISSOLVE THE MARRIAGE. IN 1821 SHE FAILED IN HER ATTEMPT TO BE CROWNED WITH HER HUSBAND WHEN SHE WAS LOCKED OUT OF THE CORONATION AT WESTMINSTER ABBEY. SHE DIED IN THE SAME YEAR. In very good condition. RARE 1838 SWANSEA MUG FOR THE CORONATION OF QUEEN VICTORIA. Royal commemorative - A good named portrait of Queen Victoria printed in purple and made in Swansea. For a similar mug see 'British Commemoratives' by Sir Lincoln Hallinan plate 120. Queen Victoria coronation mugs are becoming very hard to find and this 2 7/8 inch tall mug is in unusually good condition with no signs of chips, cracks or restoration.

c.1837 FIGURAL SPIRIT FLASK MISNAMED PORTRAITS QUEEN VICTORIA. A very rare and unusual misnamed treacle glaze stoneware spirit flask produced about the time of the Accession to the throne in 1837. One side has a profile of Queen Victoria misnamed The Duchess of Kent (her mother) and the other a hatted portrait of The Duchess of Kent entitled Victoria. The mouth of the flask shows a bewigged gentleman (Possibly Lord Melbourne, the Prime Minister at the time). 7 1/2" high in very good condition with a tiny loss of glaze on the base edge. For somewhat similar portraits see Victoria Remembered by John May page 22.

1848 CHILDREN OF QUEEN VICTORIA 'ROYAL CHILDREN' JUG. Rare c.1848 flow blue jug titled 'Royal Children' with raised relief of 2 of Queen Victoria's children - Prince Alfred dressed as AUTUMN & Princess Alice as SPRING. From a play "The Seasons" which the royal children performed in 1848 at Osborne House for Queen Victoria. Queen Victoria was apparently so overwhelmed by the beauty of the children that she commanded the notable sculptress Mary Thornycroft to create life-sized statutes of the Prince and Princess in their seasonal costumes. and it can still be seen at Osborne House on the Isle of Wight. For a similar jugs see "Victoria Remembered" p.117 by John May, British Commemoratives p.76 by Sir Lincoln Hallinan and "British Royalty Commemoratives" p.187 by Flynn/Bolton.
A little wear to the glaze. The luster is very good except a small loss to the rim. Usual age crazing and discoloring. On the whole in good condition. See all pictures.
