c.1904 - ENTENTE CORDIALE - MUG. A bone china mug with crossed flags of United Kingdom and France. In really excellent condition. The mark on the base is excess gilding. The ENTENTE CORDIALE (Friendly Understanding) was a series of agreements signed on April 8 1904, between the United Kingdom and France which marked the end of centuries of intermittent conflict between the two nations, and the start of the peaceful co-existence that still continues. In good condition.

GERMANY - c.1871 KAISER WILHELM I TOBACCO BOX. A splendid German tobacco jar about 10" tall with the crowned Kaiser seated on his throne holding a scepter and orb. This rare and impressive piece is in good condition but not perfect. The one corner of the document under his left hand is missing, a couple of chips inside the crown and on the blue tunic, the tip of the throne has been repaired and some loss of color with age. 1878 CUBA - SPAIN. ARSENIO MARTINEZ de CAMPOS. RARE PLATE WITH NAMED PORTRAIT OF GENERAL ARSENIO MARTINEZ DE CAMPOS 1831-1900. MADE IN ENGLAND BY ADAMS WITH REGISTRATION MARK FOR 1878. Arsenio Martinez Campos ruled Cuba for the Spanish empire prior to the Cuban War of Independence. The war was coming to an end, but an agreement had not yet been reached. Martinez Campos tricked the Cuban revolutionaries into signing the Pact of Zanjon on February 10, 1878, which promised the Cubans many reforms and concessions that the Spanish did not honor. He returned to Spain in 1878 and became prime minister. In good condition with usual minor wear and light crazing. There is an 1/2" surface crack and small hairline on the rear rim only and does not show on the front.

c.1939 NEVILLE CHAMBERLAIN M.P. CHARACTER MUG. small 3" tall mug with good hand painted detail and his trade mark umbrella as the handle. Rear impressed Chamberlain. Base has the Lancaster & Sons mark used 1938 - 1944. British Prime Minister between 1937 and 1940. Neville Chamberlain is best known for his appeasement foreign policy, and in particular for his signing of the Munich Agreement in 1938, conceding the Sudetenland region of Czechoslovakia to Nazi Germany.

In very good condition with only light wear to the gilding. William Ewart Gladstone(1809-1898), four times prime minister of Britain (1868-1874,1880-1885, 1886, and 1892-1894). One of the dominant political forces in Victorian England. Leader of the Liberal Party after 1867, Gladstone changed the role of government in England.

AUSTN CHAMBERLAIN - BRASS ASTRAY. An interesting brass ashtray with raised portrait of Austin Chamberlain 1863-1937. British statesman and recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize. He was a member of the most famous political family of their day. His father was Joseph Chamberlain MP and his half brother was Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain.

c.1909 AVIATION PENCIL BOX PIONEERS HENRY FARMAN AND HUBERT LATHAM Rare pencil case decorated with an attractive early aviation scene depicting the two pioneer aviators, Henry Farman and Hubert Latham. Dating from around 1909. It has an upper section which swivels open and a sliding lid and base. The lid is decorated with a colorful transfer depicting an aviation scene. The central image shows Henry Farman's Boxkite biplane and Hubert Latham's Antoinette IV monoplane circling around a pylon and also bears the caption, "Farman Flying - Latham Flying". Either side of this image are the portraits of Farman & Latham. It has been used but is in very good condition for age. See photos.
