c.1802 KING GEORGE III PEARLWARE TEA BOWL - TREATY OF AMIENS. A polychrome enamel tea bowl celebrating the Treaty of Amiens and the end (temporarily) of the hostilities between France and Britain. To the left of Britannia is Victory holding a palm frond and seated to the right is France with a staff and Liberty Cap (A symbol of the French Revolution). In good condition for its age with 3 tiny spots on the rim glaze possibly in manufacture and a small spot loss of glaze on the inside with the usual glaze crazing.

1901 MINTON SECESSIONIST WARE TANKARD - KING EDWARD VII 1901 MINTON’S SECESSIONIST WARE (1st PERIOD) TANKARD FOR THE ACCESSION TO THE THRONE OF KING EDWARD VII. A rarely available mug/tankard.
Leon Solon was hired by Minton's in 1895 after his work was published in The Studio an important design magazine. His early work at Minton's Staffordshire Factory was influenced by the Viennese Secessionist art movement, founded by Gustav Klimt and others and became known as Secessionist ware. Age crazing with resulting dscoloring mostly under the base. No chips, cracks or restoration ans is considered in good condition. See all pictures.

A civic celebration has been held every 20 years since 1328 (except during World War II). A lithophane cup for the 1902 Preston Guild and the Coronation. When the base is held to the light a portrait of King Edward VII is visible. In excellent condition.

RARE LITHOPHANE CUPS - KING GEORGE V & QUEEN MARY with VON HINDENBURG A very rare and unusual pair King George V and Queen Mary LITHOPHANES (Hold base to the light to view portraits). On the front of each is a portrait of Gen-Field Marshall Von Hindenburg above an Iron Cross dated 1914 surrounded by guns, cannons and the German flag. He appears to be wearing his Pour Le Merite (Blue Max) which was awarded to him in Sept 1914. What possible event could have warranted issuing cups with George V and Queen Mary lithophanes in the bases and Von Hindenburg on the front? If you have any information please let us know. Both in excellent condition. See all Photographs.

As you drink from the mug the frog appears inside on the bottom. The relief molding has some glaze wear and there is some age crazing. On the whole in very good condition with no chips, cracks or restoration.

Louis-Napoléon Bonaparte (1808 – 1873) Elected President by popular vote in 1848, he initiated a coup d'état in 1851, before ascending the throne As Napoleon III in 1852 and ruled as Emperor of the French until 1870. He was the son of Napoleon I’s brother and liked to proclaim that he was his uncle’s nephew. There is a 1cm x 2cm chip (lower right front) which is not immediately obvious in the design. Otherwise in good condition with very light age crazing.

Impressed Wedgwood mark on the back with 2 other small indistinct marks and a small printed mark. 2012 is the bicentenary of his birth. A rare and unusual plate in excellent condition.

1857 SIR COLIN CAMPBELL - SIR HENRY HAVELOCK JUG.INDIAM MUTINY WARS. A Copper Luster jug commemorating the relief of Lucklow in 1857.Relief molded and colored, titled portraits of "Sir Henry Havelock 1795-1857" and "Sir Colin Campbell 1792-1863".
In September 1857 Sir Henry Havelock fought his way into the Lucknow Residency compound which was under siege (Lucknow was the capital of the former Indian state of Awadh) . Their force was only sufficient to reinforce the garrison and the siege continued until Sir Colin Campbell's arrival in November 1857. Havelock died of dysentery on 29 November 1857, a few days after the siege was lifted..

Seals of the United States, France, England, Belgium and Canada. With a monthly 1920 calendar around the edge . The lower section has an advertising ‘Compliments of V.R.Moyer Landis Store, Pa.’ The back is marked by the makers D.R. McNicol,(Pottery Company) East Liverpool, Ohio. Calendar plates were a specialty of this company.
Excellent rim gilding, good color and light all over age crazing.
