1937 GEORGE VI CORONATION / GRAND NATIONAL HORSE RACE ROYAL DOULTON. A HARD TO FIND AND UNUSUAL DUAL COMMEMORATIVE FOR BOTH 1937 GRAND NATIONAL (A MAJOR BRITISH HORSE RACE) AND THE CORONATION OF KING GEORGE VI IN THE SAME YEAR. A LARGE (5 1/2" TALL) ROYAL DOULTON TANKARD. IN EXCELLENT CONDITION. The back has the race winner "Royal Mail" and additional race information. The Royal Doulton backstamp on the base along with impressed number 7119AN.

An angel holds a plaque reading "Intemperance is Ireland's bane, England's curse and Scotland's woe". An eye looks down from above. In very good condition with a little age crazing. For a similar plate see "Gifts for Good Children" 1790-1980 by Noel Riley #1053.
