A WADE CHESS PIECE / BENEAGLES SCOTCH 5" MINIATURE IN THE FORM OF SIR FRANCES DRAKE.
Figure of Sir Francis Drake being part of The Thistle and The Rose Chess Set. The pieces (apart from pawns) were originally filled with Beneagles Scotch whiskey. The key pieces were Queen Elizabeth I and Mary Queen of Scots; Henry VIII and Robert the Bruce; Sir Francis Drake and William Wallace; Thomas à Becket and John Knox; the rooks in the form of a Norman tower and a Scottish tower-house. Issued for British Caledonian Airways. In very good condition.
