BLUE & WHITE COMMODORE PAUL JONES CAPTURING THE SERAPIS.
Early 20th century Historical Staffordshire plate commemorating Commodore Paul Jones capturing the Serapis Sept 23rd 1779. Fruit and flower border. Back mark - R & M Co. For Rowland & Marsellus who were importers, wholesalers and retailers, especially of souvenir wares operating out of New York c.1893 -1938. They dealt with numerous Stoke-on-Trent pottery manufacturers and then sold the wares to other distributors in the US. In good condition light ware and a couple of not noticeable small black spots on the front.
