c.1898 ADMIRAL WILLIAM SAMPSON PLATE. SPANISH-AMERICAN WAR. Named color portrait of Admiral Sampson with American flags. ADMIRAL WILLIAM SAMPSON 1840 – 1902 was a United States Navy admiral best known for his 1898 victory in the Battle of Santiago de Cuba during the Spanish-American War.Generally in good condition with a not very noticable rim chip at about 10 O'Clock and wear to the gilding. Back inscribed with the retailer R.H.Macy.
