1937 HUGE ROYAL DOULTON KING GEORGE VI L/E LOVING CUP / VASE.
A really spectacular piece in every way. By top designer and long time Doulton art director Charles J. Noke and Harry Fenton. For the 1937 Coronation. The King and Queen are shown in profile wearing their coronation regalia, within a portrait medallion titled ‘Empire’ surrounded by flags with the legends 'GEORGE RI - ELIZABETH R 1937' and 'GOD SAVE THE KING'. below. To the left are trumpeters and to the right The Lord Chancellor and members of the Order of Chivalry. The reverse shows St. George on horseback in front of Windsor Castle and among heraldic devices and Commonwealth flags. Incised on the handles are the names of various Commonwealth countries: Canada, Australia, India, South Africa, New Zealand, Ceylon, Kenya, Jamaica, Trinidad, Barbados, and the State of Tasmania. Number 988 of a limited edition of 2000. In excellent condition with great vibrant color.
