RARE c.1936 ROYAL DOULTON WHISKY JUG BEING A GOOD REPLICA OF THE 1830 KING GEORGE IV MEMORIAM JUG. A portrait of King George IV on one side and inscription ‘To the memory of his late majesty….’ with dates on the reverse. The side has the royal coat of arms and inscribed ‘With the compliments of "King George IV" Old Scotch Whisky'. The base has the Royal Doulton mark and the impressed number 8141. See all pictures. In very good condition with very light age crazing.

Size: 6" - 143mm tall.

MID 19TH CENTURY TEMPERANCE PLATE - THE BOTTLE. Temperance plate entitled 'THE BOTTLE - SCENE FIRST' with a caption reading ‘THE BOTTLE IS BROUGHT OUT FOR THE FIRST TIME, THE HUSBAND INVITES HIS WIFE JUST TO TAKE A DROP’. In excellent condition with all over very light age crazing.

INDEPENDANT ORDER OF RECHIBITES ANNIVERSARY MUG. The Independent Order of Rechabites was a friendly society founded in England in 1835 as part of the temperance movement. A bone china 125th anniversary mug in excellent condition.

19th CENTURY TEMPERANCE CUP AND SAUCER. The Temperance crest has a man and woman either side, holding flags reading ‘Sobriety brings Domestic Comfort‘. Above is an oak tree with a banner reading ‘Firm as an Oak'. Below the shield, is written ‘Be Thou Faithful Unto Death‘. In good condition with a a glaze flake under the cup and some age wear to the cup rim otherwise very clean.

Size: 5 1/2" saucer.

c.1884 JOSEPH LIVESEY FOUNDER OF THE TEMPERANCE MOVEMENT. 1832 JOSEPH LIVESEY founder of the temperance movement and seven workingmen signed a pledge that they would never again drink alcohol. Other groups of working men followed the example of Livesey and his friends and by 1835 the British Association for the Promotion of Temperance was formed. A rare cup & saucer with the the registration mark for 1884 The year of his death. Small 1/2" hairline on the cup above portrait.
